PEHD or HDPE (High-density polyethylene)

 

Most Common Uses:

Milk jugs, juice bottles; bleach, detergent and household cleaner bottles; shampoo bottles; imitation wood; some trash and shopping bags; motor oil bottles; butter and yogurt tubs; cereal box liners

Health Risks:

The risks are low. there is little research on the effects of HDPE. There is no evidence of toxicity and its release (temperature that causes leaching is over 400 degrees Fahrenheit when in contact with fats and oils.

HDPE bottles are the best choice for short term storage of water and other food products.
