Most government agencies are made up of people who generally desire to help, but they are part of system, a mechanism, that must first assure its own survival in order to help others. More and more the employees of the agencies are taught that the "only good that is done is done by the government", it is fair and treats everyone equally. Right? Well, technically that is correct. Unfortunately, no two people are the same, like snowflakes, each are similar, but not equal. Different people have different needs. Some of the needs are actually wants, others are specific to that person based upon their personal problems and circumstances. They are as different as snowflakes.

If you understand that then you can understand why leaving your survival, happiness or basic comfort to someone or some entitiy will never work out. You will never be satisfied and at best you will be surviving. Survival in that flavor is not our goal.

We have learned many lessons, especially recently.

Dependence = Suffering
Reality Is That Government
Can Never Maintain
Your Lifestyle the Way You Want

This is not some "doomsday" prediction or carping rant about "the end". It is actually very simple math; no matter how much money or how many resources are expended, no entity, whether it be public or private, will ever be able to provide for "all of your needs" the way that you will. In fact, sometimes even you cannot.

The difference is that in order to become dependent, you must first assume the role of victim. You can use whatever words you want, but it always comes back to victim. Why is that important? Well, that is simple, when you declare yourself a victim, you declare and accept the fact that what happens to you, affects your life, and helps or harms you is out of your control. A victim needs a savior. Unfortunately, most of the time they actually get a governemental agency. As President Reagan said:
