Definitions of Terms
Law enforcement - any system whereby a few members of society act together in an organized manner to enforce the law. The residual effect causing the discovery, deterence, rehabilitation, or punishment of people who violate the rules and norms governing that society. Please note how in the definition they conflate the terms; "enforce the law" to "people who violate the rules and norms governing that society". This is the conflation of ethics and morals. Morals (as I said last week on the radio show) are maleable and change with
Ethics - A major branch of philosophy which encompasses right conduct and good living. "A set of concepts and principles that guide us in determining what behavior helps or harms sentient creatures" (Paul, Richard; Elder, Linda (2006). The Miniature Guide to Understanding the Foundations of Ethical Reasoning).
Morality – Morality does not exist in nature, ethics do. The traditional view of modern social scientists is that morality is a construct, and is thus culturally relative, although others argue that there is a science of morality.
Investigator - A person who carries out a formal inquiry or investigation.
Security - Resistance of, protection from a threat against any vulnerable, valuable asset, i.e.; person, domicile, physical asset, community, nation, or organization.
According to the Institute for Security and Open Methodologies, Security presents "a form of protection where a separation is created between the assets and the threat." Such separations are referred to as "controls," those controls may be manifest as changes to the asset or the threat.
The Two Dialogues of Security:
Negative dialogue: Focus is upon danger, risk, and threats, the resistance of which requires military equipment, armies, or police.
Positive Dialogue: Focus is about opportunities, interests, savings or profits, the attainment of which requires proactive behavior, creation and expenditure of social capital, education, or social interaction.
