Gas Main Explosions
All Over The USA
The facts are simple it is not some great conspiracy. The Europeans had the opportunity to basically rebuild their entire infrastructure in the post war era. London was bombed back into the stone age

The infrastructure in the USA  is severely aged and much of it antiquated. You must be vigilant.

Case in point:

My house has had this persistent issue with the first floor bathroom's toilet. There was an extreme odor coming from the toilet. I have listened to my friends at Mother Earth News so I conserve water by not flushing every time I pee.  If you check out the article in the water section of Core Skills you will see why. At first I thought it was my urine being horribly strong. I thought maybe I was sick. I even had the doctor check it.

Then one day a month ago I noticed an extremely strong smell of natural gas under my jeep at the curb. Not wishing to roast marshmallows over my jeep I called the gas company.  After three days, four trucks, two back hoes, ten men they found the leak 300 feet away.

The kicker was that the gas normally pockets under the asphalt and erodes the dirt until a sink hole appears, it leaks out of an existing crack or boom. But in this case it gets more interesting; the gas was leaking into the sewer main. Imagine the shock someone would get when they dropped a lit cigarette in the toilet... yikes!!! That brings a whole new meaning to the term dropping a bomb in the loo.

So the lesson to take from this is be vigilant. There is no such thing as overreacting with a gas leak.
