Downed powerlines are a very serious threat that come out of storms and high winds. You need to know what to do.
If there is a downed powerline touching the ground you could be electrocuted by simply walking within 35 feet of the line. Stay clear and call for help. If you are in a vehicle and the line is on or near your vehicle do not get out, if at all practical climb out of the drivers seat away from the steering column. DO NOT TOUCH ANY EXPOSED METAL. Whenever possible move to the middle of the vehicle.

The Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1, 2016 and ends November 30, 2016. The year, 2016 threw us a curve ball by starting five months early with the occurrence of Hurricane Alex forming in the Eastern Atlantic Ocean on January 13.
February, March and April are always an amalgam of brisk cold, occasional snow, heavy soaking rains, flooding and thunderstorms, high winds and an occasional straight line wind or tornado. This has happened for millennia, there is no reason that we should not be prepared.
As with all preparedness actions, the time to act is now. The expenses can be managed and limited, while the effectiveness and ROI can be maximized.
Will and others will talk about ideas and approaches to take in order to ensure the best outcome and least negative effects on you and your property.
